Tired of sitting at the airport gate with everyone else? We don’t blame you — from limited seating and crying babies to overpriced food and drinks, the main airport can be a buzzkill. Chase has realized this and promised to open a handful of airport lounges around the world. But what airports have Chase lounges — and which credit cards can get you into said lounges? Let’s take a look.
Chase Sapphire lounge locations
What airports have Chase lounges? Technically none as of yet, but to date, Chase has announced six different locations for its lounges:
-
Las Vegas (LAS).
-
Phoenix (PHX).
-
San Diego (SAN).
-
Boston (BOS).
-
Hong Kong (HKG).
-
New York-La Guardia (LGA).
Although none of these lounges have opened, they are currently in development with partner Airport Dimensions, an airport lounge company whose products span more than two dozen airports.
Nerdy tip: The first Capital One branded lounge has already opened in Dallas-Fort Worth with unlimited entry for Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card holders.
It’s interesting to note that many airports on this list might not be the big names you’d expect to see. From another perspective, though, airports such as San Francisco, New York-JFK and Los Angeles are already outfitted with several airport lounges. These locations will help close a gap for popular midsize airports with limited existing lounges.
Chase Sapphire Reserve®
Just two different credit cards will give you access to the Chase lounges, including the Chase Sapphire Reserve® card. This card, which comes with a hefty $550 annual fee, also offers a bevy of benefits to frequent travelers, including:
-
3x Chase Ultimate Rewards® points per dollar spent on all travel.
-
Priority Pass Select membership.
-
Up to 10x Chase points per dollar spent on hotels and rental cars booked via Chase Travel, as well as 5x Chase points per dollar spent on airfare.
The card also earns 3x points on other travel after the first $300 is spent on travel purchases annually; 10x points on Chase Dining purchases with Ultimate Rewards®; 3x points on other dining at restaurants, including eligible delivery services, takeout and dining out; and 1 point per dollar spent on all other purchases.
Newcomers are enticed with a welcome offer: Earn 50,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. Cardholders also get 50% more value when they redeem Ultimate Rewards® for travel in the Chase Travel portal.
We anticipate that Chase Sapphire Reserve® lounge access will be simple: Keep your card on your person when you travel and flash it for entry (much like other lounges).
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
Often referred to as the “younger sibling” of the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is significantly less costly and rings in at $95 per year. This card will also grant you access to Chase lounges and comes along with plenty of benefits for travelers:
-
$50 annual hotel credit for stays booked via the Chase travel portal.
-
5x points per dollar on all travel booked via the Chase travel portal, plus 2x points per dollar spent on other travel purchases.
-
3x points per dollar on dining, online grocery purchases and select streaming services.
The card comes with an attractive welcome bonus to new cardholders: Earn 80,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That’s $1,000 when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards®. Cardholders get 25% more value when they redeem Ultimate Rewards® for travel in the Chase Travel portal.
Another perk for Chase credit card holders is access to a slew of transfer partners, making dozens of destinations easy to book.
Other ways to gain airport lounge access
If you don’t hold either the Chase Sapphire Reserve® or the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, you may still be wondering how you can gain Chase airport lounge access. And even if you do hold one of these cards, you’ll still be waiting for entry to the Chase lounges as none of them have yet opened.
Happily, there are still plenty of ways for travelers to get themselves entry to airport lounges.
Priority Pass lounges
Priority Pass is a collection of more than 1,300 lounges and restaurants located in airports around the world. The Chase Sapphire Reserve® card comes with a Priority Pass Select membership; after activating, the perk entitles the cardholder and up to two guests entry to any of these lounges when traveling.
This membership also includes access to participating restaurants, which will grant you (and your guests) a per-person credit to be used on food and drinks.
Enrollment required. Terms apply.
Airport lounge membership
If you’re particularly loyal to a single airline, you may want to consider getting yourself an airport lounge membership. These memberships grant you access to branded lounges whenever you fly the airline.
For example, if you have a United Club membership, you’ll be able to enter the United Club lounge anytime you’re flying on a United Airlines ticket, even domestically.
Airline lounge memberships aren’t cheap, but if you hold the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, you can use the $300 annual travel credit toward the cost of the membership.
You can also opt to acquire some high-end credit cards, such as the United Club℠ Infinite Card, which include lounge membership as part of their annual fee.
American Express Global Lounge Collection
If you hold The Platinum Card® from American Express, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express or the Centurion Card, you’ll have access to the American Express Global Lounge Collection. Terms apply.
In addition to the Priority Pass Select membership mentioned above, these cards will give you plenty of different choices for airport lounge access, including:
-
Centurion Lounges.
-
Delta Sky Clubs (when flying Delta).
-
Plaza Premium.
-
Air Space.
-
Select Lufthansa lounges (when flying Lufthansa).
Note that as an AmEx Platinum cardholder you can bring two guests to the Centurion Lounge for free until February 2023, after which you’ll pay $50 per guest for entry unless you’ve spent $75,000 or more in eligible purchases on your card in a calendar year. Terms apply.
If you want to use a credit card for Chase lounges
There are just two credit cards that’ll get you access to the upcoming Chase Sapphire lounges, which will have six locations worldwide. This includes the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, both travel cards with strong benefits for travelers.
However, if you don’t hold one of these cards or you’re looking for immediate entry to an airport lounge, consider one of many other ways to gain entry, including a Priority Pass Select membership, holding one of several high-end American Express cards or splurging for a club membership offered by different airlines.
